What the test measures

High-sensitivity C-reactive protein

C-reactive protein is made by the liver in response to inflammation. The high-sensitivity assay (hsCRP) detects the very low concentrations that matter for chronic, low-grade inflammation - the kind that contributes to arterial disease over years, well below what a standard CRP test can see.

Chronically elevated hsCRP is associated with higher long-term cardiovascular risk, independent of cholesterol. CHIRAYOU measures hsCRP plus 9 more blood values, so your inflammation marker sits in context rather than as an isolated number.

How hsCRP is read for cardiovascular risk

For cardiovascular-risk context the commonly used thresholds group hsCRP into three bands. A value above 10 mg/L usually points to an acute infection or injury rather than chronic risk - and should be repeated once it settles.

< 1.0 mg/L
Lower risk
Associated with the lowest inflammation-related cardiovascular risk.
1.0–3.0 mg/L
Average risk
An intermediate band - worth reading alongside your other markers.
> 3.0 mg/L
Higher risk
Linked to higher long-term risk; a repeat confirms it isn’t transient.

hsCRP is non-specific - one reading is a snapshot, not a diagnosis

hsCRP rises with any inflammation: a recent cold, an injury, or even an intense workout can push it up temporarily. That is why a single value matters less than a trend, and why an elevated result is best confirmed with a repeat a few weeks later and discussed with a physician.

Reference ranges are general orientation values for cardiovascular-risk context, not a diagnosis. Your report puts your result in context; an elevated value should be discussed with a physician.

hsCRP in context

Why hsCRP is strongest when it isn’t read alone

Inflammation is one piece of the cardiovascular picture - not the whole story. Read on its own, an hsCRP value says little; read alongside particle count, blood sugar and kidney function, it becomes far more informative. That is why CHIRAYOU measures hsCRP plus 9 more blood values.

ApoB (heart & arteries)

ApoB (heart & arteries)

Counts the atherogenic particles that drive plaque - inflammation acts on top of this particle burden.

eGFR (kidney)

eGFR (kidney)

Kidney function is tightly linked to both inflammation and long-term cardiovascular risk.

Inflammation, particles and metabolism belong together for a real risk picture. Explore the full panel:

Single test or baseline test

Single hsCRP test vs. the CHIRAYOU 10-value baseline test

A standalone CRP test gives you one number to interpret yourself. The CHIRAYOU baseline test measures hsCRP plus 9 more blood values - collected with a nearly painless upper-arm device and read together, using a physician-developed protocol.

Pure CRP test

Single hsCRP test

hsCRP + 9 more blood values

Measurement
Measures one inflammation value on its own.
Measures hsCRP plus 9 more blood values.
Collection
Finger-prick lancet - filling the collection tube can be difficult.
Tasso+ on the upper arm - nearly painless, reliable volume. Free replacement kit if a sample can’t be analysed.
Context
No connection to particles, blood sugar or kidney values.
hsCRP in the context of ApoB, blood sugar, kidney and more.
Result
You receive a single number.
A connected report instead of isolated values.
Interpretation
No interpretation - you read the number yourself.
Interpreted in the app, built on a physician-developed protocol.
Price
Often cheaper (~€20) - but one isolated value you interpret yourself.

Is CHIRAYOU a single hsCRP test?

You get your hsCRP value either way - analysed in a certified lab and explained in plain language. CHIRAYOU simply isn't a single-marker test: from the same sample you also get hsCRP plus 9 more blood values at one flat price - so you understand your inflammation marker in context, not as an isolated number.

FAQ

hsCRP, answered

The questions people ask most before checking their inflammation marker.

hsCRP is high-sensitivity C-reactive protein - a protein the liver releases in response to inflammation. The high-sensitivity assay detects the low concentrations relevant to chronic, low-grade inflammation, which is associated with long-term cardiovascular risk independent of cholesterol.
